Cute Little Chairs

Image
We stopped in the Hamilton Library to look at some books. I also found some to buy for only $1. Audrey and Cannon loved these cute little chairs. They also had some hand puppets so we put on a little show for ourselves. It was a nice way to spend some time out of the heat.

Shatto Dairy

Image
We went to the Shatto Dairy one afternoon to get some of their yummy milk and to see some of the baby calf's. They have lots of different flavored milk which was fun for the kids to try. Hunter got chocolate, Audrey & Megan got strawberry (pink), Cannon got banana, I got root beer and my MIL got orange creme. It was delicious!!

The Grady's Farm

Image
My IL's have made some great friends out there, who have in turn become our friends. We like to take the kids to their farm because they have more animals than just their cows. We got to see a huge mama pig, some of her offspring, goats, dogs, horses, sheep and of course their cows. Its a lot of fun. The kids even got to bottle feed the baby goat.

Sally

Image
You may remember how we (and by we I mean me) sent Sally out to the farm ? Well this is what she looks like now! She seems to really love being a barn cat. She doesn't like to spend much time with people and just hangs out outside. I saw her hunting mice in the field. I guess she wasn't meant to be a city cat. She's thriving out in the country.

Swimming in the Backyard

Image
Hunter, Audrey and Cannon enjoyed splashing around with their cousins Riley, Connor and Megan in Grandma's backyard. I LOVE this picture of the two girls running in the green grass with their pink princess swimsuits on!

Steamboat Arabia

Image
One day we decided to go see the Steamboat Arabia. It is a muesum in Kansas City. Back in the day, steamboats were used to carry passengers and goods up and down the rivers. The Missouri River was particularly trecherous because of shifting shorelines and swift moving logs. The Steamboat Arabia was sunk shortly after setting out on its journey. No lives were lost, except a mule, but millions of items of things that would be used to set up households in the west were sunk to the bottom of the river. We had our map of the city and we thought we knew where to go, but with contruction and unfamiliar roads it took us a little while before we found it. My SIL Tammy hopped out to make sure we knew where to go. Once we had a plan, it turned out that the building that we were looking for was right by us! Then we got everyone out of the car and into srollers. The entrance for the museum seemed to be up stairs. So we carried everyone to the top. We later learned that there was a ramp ...

Hanging Out

Image
The best part about being on vacation, is just hanging out. No schedules, no responsibilites. Just being with people you love and enjoying each other. There is a big back porch on my IL's house and I love to sit out there to enjoy the senery and watch the kids play. In the evenings when everybody is around we sat at the kitchen table and talked for hours, well past midnight on most nights. Its so nice to be able to do those kinds of things while you're on vacation.
