Uh, oh!
When things get a little too quiet during play time you know that's not a good thing. I found Audrey & Megan playing with soap and not in the bathroom. They smeared it all over themselves. At least when we washed them off they were really clean!

Chillicothe
We went to the park in Chillicothe one day because we were there doing some errands and we thought we could bribe the kids with the park. This park had a really cool really tall space ship that you could climb up into, and then slide down. Everyone had fun until we got too hot. It was really humid that day. Good thing they could get a cool drink inside the lion's head!

Paytee House
This former mansion hotel is now a wonderful museum. It is in St. Joseph and is right next door to the Jesse James house. Inside the huge museum is separated into rooms that contain so many things to looks at. There's a barber shop full of things from (I can't remember the time period, but it was all old pioneer type things). There was a post office, bank, printer and much much more.
To make the museum a little more interesting for little ones we were able to do a scavenger hunt. Inside each room there was something that didn't belong. For example in the gas station there was a bowl of plastic fruit. In other rooms there might be a picture of Elvis or Marilyn Monroe. The kids didn't always get it, but they still kept looking for what didn't belong.
Also inside this building was a train depot with a train to climb on. A saloon. A toy shop with lots of old toys. Old cars. And a replica of a 1920's carasel. The kids got to ride it and they loved it. It was beautiful.
We could have explored for hours and hours, but with all of our little ones we just did the basic tour. I would definitely go back though.

Gratitude for a small town
Well, like I said in yesterday's post, my camera was missing. After searching the house and the car I thought back to where I'd used it last. When I remembered the park, I thought there's no way it'll be there, but I still raced into town to check.
After looking over the park I of course didn't find it. I walked next door to the pool to see if by chance anyone had turned it in (in Vegas NOBODY would've). I asked the lifegaurds and they said yes, and handed it over. I was in total shock and so super grateful.
Oh happy day! I was thrilled to have my camera back and even more importantly my memory card full of memories! That night I wrote a letter to the editor praising their town. I'm not sure if it got published, but I hope it did. Then the good smaratian will know how much I appreciated their kindness.
Oh, and what would you do if you were a teenager with a camera hanging around? Take pictures of course! This is what a found on my memory card, but I didn't care because I was so happy to have my camera back!!

Hamilton Park
After the petting zoo we went over to the city park. The kids had fun even though it was getting pretty hot. We didn't stay very long, I took a few pictures and then we left to have lunch at Subway. This was on a Friday. What I didn't realize until Monday was that my camera seemed to be missing. More on that tomorrow...

Hamilton Summer School
Riley and Connor happened to be in summer school for about 2 weeks while we were there. In MO if you sign up and go to summer school you get paid! I thought it was a good idea. It kept the boys busy and they got to do fun things.
One day they had a special event going on that siblings could attend. So we went down to the school and got to pet an ewe and ride on a pony.
