Becoming a Pioneer

Image
Sara saw a post about someone who was going to make their own laundry soap and thought that we should try it. Being the couponing woman that she is, she called the company that manufactures the ingredients that we would need. They were happy to send her some coupons and 6 to 8 weeks later we were ready! Unfortunatley at this point in my post the pictures that we took are lost forever . I can tell you that it was easy to make. The reciepe made a TON of soap. I love it! It smells good, works great and saves me a bundle! I've also used 2 of the main ingredients, Borax and Super Washing Soda, to clean my house with great results. These two ingredients are now used for my dishwasher soap , (combined with jet dry, I didn't like the effects of the vinegar that you were supposed to use) and for cleaning the floor of my shower. It is starting to get sparkly white! So maybe I'm not quite like a pioneer woman but a lot can be said about these woman that used everything they...

I have fun saving $

This is so true and very funny! http://www.thebargainjargon.com/2009/05/note-for-others-from-my-husband.html I've saved my sweethearts inbox from a flood of photos by creating this blog with my sister. That way I can brag all I want, but the faithful readers of this blog won't get bored of all my saving stories. We're the ones that get excited about this stuff and now we can show off! If you are interested you could start reading this blog and then leave us a pat on the back comment. We really are proud of how much we can save. I did get my sweetheart to help me out on my couponing quest. You can read about it here and even see a picture! I guess you can say that I'm a "coupon clipping bargain shopper" and proud of it!

Cereal

If anyone doesn't know about the cereal sale at Albertson's right now they are missing out! Some post cereal (honey bunches of oats, grape nuts, etc.) is on sale for $1.57. This is an amazing price, but what you don't know (unless you've read about it online) is that when you buy 6 boxes then you get a $5 coupon for your next visit. Awesome right? There is also a coupon right now at post for $2 off trail mix crunch (don't forget to print it twice). http://www.postcereals.com/trailmixcrunch/ I had to buy 2 different brands for my kids and a gallon of milk, but then I bought 12 boxes of post cereal. Total: 14 boxes of cereal and 1 gallon of milk $9.23 with a savings of $54.12!! If you want to see a picture and read the whole story go to http://sistersaving.blogspot.com/2009/04/nope-were-not-getting-bagged-cereal.html After I got this great deal I was sooo happy! I kept dancing and whooo hoooing. Hunter and Audrey weren't sure why, until I told them that I...

Getting on the CVS bandwagon

Image
I took a coupon class lately and have really been trying to use my coupons when I'm out shopping. Its fairly easy to do when I go to the grocery store because I already have a list made and I can check that list to see if I have any coupons that match what I'm already going to buy. I've saved quite a bit of money and have been really happy with my thriftyness. So now to CVS. I've heard many good things about CVS and all the deals that you can get, but I was a little intimadated. The system is a little tricky, but totally doable. One night I called the "coupon lady" to come to my house and teach me how to do CVS. We spent an hour coming up with the PLAN. Then she was even going to go to the store with me and walk me through it, but by that time it was almost 10:00 and I needed to feed the baby and go to bed. Needless to say the next morning I didn't go to CVS. Then I kept not going, until my sister took the coupon class and went to CVS and got amazing deal...
