It Could've Been Worse

Audrey very proudly showed me the hair that she cut off. AHHHH!

She also cut a little of Cannon's just so he wouldn't feel left out.

I found this little pile on the floor. The other hair was lovingly collected and put into her special box so she could touch it and pet it. WHAT??? GROSS!!!!

It actually doesn't look too bad. Kinda like long bangs. Luckily I can still put it up, and she didn't do anything worse. Like cut off a huge chunk in the back or go all the way down to the scalp.

Backyard Fun

Cannon loves to play outside. He really loves playing in the dirt! Someday we might have grass, but for now he's quite content playing in the backyard.

Labor Day

What is Labor Day? Hunter asked me and all I could think of was that he didn't have to go to school and Daddy didn't have to work. So I looked it up.

Labor Day originated in Canada and was later adopted in the US. It is to celebrated "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations."

Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. Forms of celebration include picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events.

So that's what we did. We invited some friends and family over for a BBQ and swimming. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed some yummy food and lots of fun.

Meeting Someone From the Internet

Since My Sweetheart didn't have to work on Labor Day, he was able to watch the kids and I was able to go out for breakfast! I haven't been out with just adults for a long time. My sister Sara invited me to go out with her and her friend Rychelle.

So I had my first encounter with meeting a fellow blogger! I was kinda nervous, but Rychelle was super nice. We went to a cute restaurant called Jamms.

I had a great time. Thanks Sara for getting me out of the house for a little while, and thanks Rychelle for breakfast. We'll have to get together again soon.

Done yet?

We still had a few things growing in our garden. I wasn't sure if they were done yet, so I left them to grow.

Oops!

So when I saw this watermelon,
I thought it must be time to harvest the other three.

Hunter was excited to pick them, so I called him outside to the garden.

Everyone carried them inside.

They sat on the counter looking so pretty. We were excited to eat them for dinner.

Then we saw this. I guess they weren't done yet!

Oh well, its time to clean up everything and get ready for my fall garden. Hopefully things will turn out better.

Off to School

We walk Hunter to school in the morning because its not too hot yet. By the afternoon I need to drive to get him because its scorching. I can't wait for the heat to break! Triple digits are not fun.

I get a few strange looks at my trailer, but once I explain that its supposed to be hooked up to my bike, then they understand. The kids like the ride and Hunter wants to ride too. I have to constantly remind him that there isn't enough room and that he's a big boy now and he needs to walk or ride his scooter.

More Bananas

Now what would you do if your BIL dropped off this baby?
Well, since my freezer was already totally full, and I'd already baked my heart out, this is what I did.

I peeled bananas.

I melted chocolate.

Dipped the bananas.

Then I froze them.

YUMMY! We couldn't wait until they were ready. Once they were, we all grabbed one for a taste.

Audrey only ate the chocolate off of hers and then got another and only ate the chocolate off of it. I told her no more!

Cannon dropped chocolate all over.

Hunter took one bite and immediately put it into the garbage.

I was so mad. I spent all that time on these treats and then they weren't appreciated. I'm not sure if Russell or Isaac has tried them, so maybe someone will like it. And if not, I do, so they can be all mine!

The BEST Time of Day

I put this sign up on the doorbell, so that no one will break the silence.

These two are drifting off to dreamland...

And there is silence in the house. I am alone. I can get some housework done, or even take my own nap. This is my time, and I love it!

Freezer FULL of Bananas

Well, what would you do if your sister gave you a TON of bananas?

I baked!

I made strawberry/banana, blueberry/banana and regular banana bread, muffins and mini-muffins.

I still have a freezer full of banans, so if anyone is interested in doing some baking of your own, PLEASE come and take some of mine!
